Update: Apologies and Rough Finish

First I need to apologize. I think I may have been ahead of myself in posting any part of my zombie story. The little I provided was not a finished chapter. It wasn’t polished. It was about as rough as my rough draft can be. So, I apologize for jumping the gun.

Good news though is that I feel I am finished now with my rough draft of chapter one. It went from a little over 800 words to almost 2800 words. I can’t promise that it’s going to stay that way as I now have to edit and revise. Whew. I am aiming to have the chapter ready to share by tomorrow night.

Thanks for reading!

I Have Defeated the Beast!

The wicked beast Distraction has been trying and succeeding to distract me from writing. Some of the distraction was enjoyable. Most was responsibility. Hurray for my small defeat last night as my hubby grabbed the sword for me and held the beast off. I got to write about 1000 words last night before sleepiness took over.

I still have a little work to do on it, got to finish the chapter and then clean it up a bit. But, you can be expecting the rest of chapter 1 soon!

Wait! I’m Not Old!

“People are in such a hurry these days.” The elderly man standing at the counter said.

“I don’t think we should even have stop signs anymore. Just put in yield signs so all the rushing people can get through as fast as possible.” Answered another elderly gentleman sitting in the doctor office chair behind me.

“Melanie.” Called the nurse. I left the two men venting to one another about “people today” and couldn’t help laugh a little to myself. Then I started thinking about it.  Continue reading

Busy, Busy, Busy

In the voice of Professor Hinkle, “busy, busy, busy.”

I hope everyone had an enjoyable holiday weekend, whatever it is this holiday means to you. I personally enjoyed the extra family time and the parade we go to go to.

I need to write. I’ve got several stories demanding my attention and life is even more demanding. I am blogging this right now while my hubby drives, a rarity.

Between doctor visits, tests, kid appointments, and end of the year school activities, this week is hopping. I try my best to get some kind of creative writing in daily, but it’s going to be a tight schedule.

Happy Weekend! Swimming Time!

It’s the weekend! Yeah! I love the weekends. As a mom the weekends is my time to enjoy my children. We are heading to the pool today. Nothing could be better at all than time with my children and the water! I think I was a dolphin in a previous life.

Have a great weekend!

Zombie Story: Part 1

(This is a zombie post-apocalyptic writing I am working on when not working on my main story. It is simply for fun. It is based off a dream I had recently. Enjoy!)
Part 1: Blood

Between the girls on the playground and the little kids chasing each other it was impossible for a group of guys to get in a soccer game. Our game was stopped once again, this time as Charlie fell flat on his face.

“Watch out,” was all we heard before Charlie sputtered on his feet, spinning around wildly as he tried to avoid the little girl frozen, staring at him with her mouth wide open. He stumbled over his feet a couple of steps and then he went down. The sound of flesh smacking the cement rang like the lunch bell as it ricocheted through the crowds and every kid in range stopped to stare. A chorus of hoots and cheers came from the guys. The kindergarten girl continued to stare in horror.Jake ran over to check on him. Jake’s mom was the school nurse and he’d know what to do until someone got her. I stayed to keep an eye on Michael. I was the largest of the four of us and while I kinda thought Michael might be able to take me, he’d never tried for it. Out there in the unfenced areas, neither of our strength or size would really matter.“Should’ve ran the brat over.” Michael snickered under his breath at me. I didn’t answer him. Michael was a great guy to play ball with but he wasn’t someone I wanted around my little sister. I think not only would he have ran over that little kid, he would have done it on purpose and ran all the harder just to make sure the kid was hurt as bad a possible. Continue reading

“Regardless of Skill”?!

Ok, so I get this comment on my post from last night that leaves a link about needing writers. I figured it was probably trash but decided to go visit the link anyway.

The very first thing I read is: “There has been an explosion in the need for online writers, regardless of skill.”

Regardless of skill? Was this supposed to hook me by making me feel safe that I won’t be rejected? *Hits back button as fast as possible*

Sorry, but that was so not the way to get me interested.
